About me, the person behind the envelope.

Who I am

My name is Vanessa. I'm a nomadic house and pet sitter, currently based in Hervey Bay, Queensland. I spent the first half of my working life as a Business Analyst and Project Manager, then later as a Carer for the aged and disabled. I cook, I read, I travel, I notice things. I write things down.

Why I started Envelope Me

I started Envelope Me for a combination of reasons. When I wrote to family while travelling, some of them — the ones not on social media — missed out. And seeing my own letterbox, when I had one, swung between minor dread (another bill) and disappointment (another catalogue). Then there were my aged care clients, who simply lit up hearing about the everyday lives of family, friends, and even their carers. That's what inspired Envelope Me. Putting into the letter box what it was originally designed for — a proper letter. Something someone had actually thought about, written down, and sent. Something worth keeping. In a world where almost everything arrives on a screen, I wanted to put something back into the letterbox that felt personal, unhurried, and a little bit lovely. So I started writing one.
